What If We Were Afraid of Catholics Instead of Muslims? 08/20/2010

As midterm elections approach in America, hollow concerns are being raised by politicians and political talkers to be used as campaign issues against their opponents.  Since being an elected official in this county no longer means representing the American people, the tactics used to fool them into voting for a particular candidate have been getting more and more outrageous.  When our lawmakers have no interest in carrying out policies that will solve the real problems in the country such as education, fraud in our banking system, and actually changing the way healthcare companies rob customers to their graves, they have to go back to emotional schemes to sway us.

Now that the latest hate-filled rhetoric over gay marriage has had its few weeks in the spotlight to divide the country, the New York City mosque that is planning to be built a few blocks away from Ground Zero is needlessly being debated.  Although many open minded Americans have refuted, debunked, and proven wrong the insular rants and ravings of talkers and pundits, the seed of fear has already been planted and watered in the minds of emotional people.  Now that the Muslim enemy is back up to bat for the majority of Conservatives, I wonder if they would be as afraid of some other religious leaders that have had a long and sordid past with innocent victims the way some Muslims have used their religion to hurt people.

As everyone knows, many Catholic priests have been exposed for molesting and raping children that serve as alter boys for decades.  We also know that these disgraceful acts have been systematically covered up by clergy in power and largely ignored as isolated events.  What if we treated these despicable priests the way we’re currently treating our newest Muslim enemies; with a brush that lumps the entire clergy and religion together?  If we did, these are the concerns voting Americans would have when that huge, new Catholic Church moves into town.

Did you hear about that new Cathedral those Catholics are planning to build downtown? What nerve they have, to be so insensitive to our feelings after all those Catholic priests exploited their power over generations of little alter boys and misused their position of trust with so many parents!  How many children never got the therapy they needed to recover from the brutal and disgusting rapes they endured?  After we heard that the more powerful members of the clergy were trying to cover up the illegal actions of these rapists, we finally realized that Catholicism isn’t a religion, but a veil for child molesters to find a new crop of kids to fondle from the dark corners of each Cathedral.

Since we do live in America and religious freedom is one of the many things that makes us great, I do believe that their child molesting religion should be able to exist and build churches, but just not in my neighborhood.  A serial child molester has the right to live once he gets out of jail, but should we allow him to move into a neighborhood full of kids in the age group that he has a history of abducting and raping?

I don’t have anything against Catholics, but I find it fishy that they want to come into my city and build ANOTHER church where so many kids have been raped by previous priests.  Sure, the leaders of this particular church are claiming to want to change the overall perception of the Catholic Church; they want to prove to my community that the horrific actions of hundreds of priests over the last few decades don’t represent the entire religion.  If the other 100 cathedrals haven’t found a way to stop these cases of molestation, I’m not confident that this one will live up to its promise.  They’re still Catholics.

I have an obligation to protect my children, and if that church is within 5 blocks of my house, I’m afraid those priests locked inside will be peering out of the stain glass windows at my son walking to school, plotting and planning a way to lure him inside and pull off another 60 years of child rape and molestation.

If my President and my Congressmen and women don’t think this is a real threat to the nation, I think I’ll have to vote in favor of candidates that stand up against Catholics.  If they’re for this Cathedral being built, they must be looking to destroy our American youth. Seeing that huge church as we drive to work everyday would be a stab in the heart of so many Americans that have had a family member raped or molested by a priest.  I believe the reason they want our children to be fondled is because the President himself is Catholic, he probably had these twisted beliefs etched into his heart and soul in his formative years.

Offended yet?

I can't tell you how much this mosque "debate" is pissing me off. I like your post...I was reading this other blog that brings up the hypocrisy of conservatives in relation to the debate. (http://www.keephip.com/index.php?p=2455&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1)

People who have an inkling of sense need to call out the "anti-mosque" people for what they are; Bigots, racists, and xenophobes. To be fair, they might just be mind-numbingly ignorant too.

If they ever mention that they are concerned for the victims of 9/11, they are LIARS, cause they don't give a shit about the ~60 muslims who died that day. They don't have any respect for the muslims who gave their life trying to save other fellow americans.

How is it possible to draw up holocaust comparisons, while being completely oblivious to the fact that they are making muslims the new jews.

What comes next, all muslim businesses must mark their stores with the crescent symbol?

Spread the word, to end the hate.
