Ted Stevens...Busted, & Wants YOUR Vote! 10/27/2008
Ted Stevens, the Republican Senator from Alaska for the last 40 years has been convicted on seven counts of corruption for accepting a string of home renovations from an oil executive and lying about it. Each count carries a maximum of 5 years in jail, tallying his possible time in the slammer at 35 years, which will never happen. The 84 year old politician has stubbornly and defiantly declared his innocence as he still vows to win reelection next Tuesday against Mark Begich. If he does pull off the victory despite this nagging little PR hit, he will be able to serve, as there is no rule keeping felons from serving in the Senate. CommentsMinty 10/28/2008 08:16
Minty is confused Jayar... if he's been found GUILTY and convicted on 7 charges, how come he won't serve those possible 35 years in jail? Will he not have to do the time if he wins his re-election??? Don't say yes, don't do it!

Man this just makes me think what a screwed up place Alaska is even more, I think we should try and sell it back to Russia or maybe pawn it off on Canada. How the hell could they elect this guy, and yet. And yet they did. If he does resign, Sarah Palin gets to appoint his interim successor. And there is nothing saying she can't appoint herself. Of course they'd eventually have to have a run off and she'd forfeit her position as gov of Alaska, but if they'd vote for her for gov and they'd vote for Stevens when he's convicted (convicted!) what's to say they wouldn't vote for her to replace him full time. Gotcha! Mrs. Smith goes to Washington, Sarah Palin 2012. Come on, Fox would eat that shit up, don't ya think?
